The Water and Sewage department of the City of Oslo has signed a contract with Veidekke Entreprenør to expand the Oset water treatment plant in Maridalen in Oslo. The value of the contract is NOK 615 million excluding VAT.
The Oset water treatment plant will be expanded and upgraded to increase capacity and improve emergency preparedness. A full 90% of the city's drinking water is from this plant, and with the expected population growth Oslo is facing, the city's water supply must be strengthened.
"This is a major and important contract for both the City of Oslo and Veidekke. We are grateful for the confidence shown in us and are looking forward to close collaboration with the Water and Sewage department on this extensive project," says Managing Director Dag Andresen of Veidekke Entreprenør.
Veidekke's contact comprises building four new caverns with capacity for a total of 100,000 m3 of water. These caverns require blasting approximately 300,000 m3 of rock, and around 20,000 m3 of concrete will poured for the four reservoirs. In addition, some technical work on the existing plant is included in the contract. The rig area will be along the access road to the administration building at Oset.
Work starts up in the beginning of September, and is scheduled for completion in December 2021.
