Veidekke's subsidiary Block Berge Bygg AS has been commissioned by Sparebank 1 SR-Bank to build Finansparken in Stavanger. At 22,600 m2 in size, this will be Norway's largest commercial building using wood for load-bearing structures. This contract is valued at NOK 406 million, excluding VAT.
There were four players in the final round for this building contract, and a thorough evaluation process formed the basis of the choice. Overall, Block Berge Bygg AS submitted the best offer, both in terms of price and quality.
"Block Berge Bygg AS submitted the best offer in terms of price and quality, and it's important that they also intend to use a large number of local subcontractors. This could be of great significance for employment in building and construction in the region at a difficult time," says CEO Arne Austreid of Sparebank 1 SR-Bank.
"Obvously, we are very pleased to have been selected as contractor. This provides a good basis for further development, and the project will undoubtedly contribute to strengthen us as an industrial partner for our clients. This is particularly pleasing at a time Rogaland is experiencing a far more difficult building market than just a short while ago. On behalf of all of our employees and partners, I'm particularly pleased that our local foundation and approach has made a positive contribution. We are looking forward to good collaboration with Sparebank 1 SR- Bank," says CEO Yngvar Karlsen of Block Berge Bygg.
The first ground will be broken after the summer, and according to plan, the building will be completed medio 2019.
