Prior to the signing of the contract, the project’s system design was completed by Veidekke and Hemsö in collaboration.

“We are excited to start construction of Vikhemsskolan in Staffanstorp. Together with Veidekke and the International English School, we are now able to help meet the need for more primary school capacity in this growing municipality, says Robert Cardell, project developer at Hemsö.

Veidekke has been assigned the construction of approx. 8 250 m2 of newbuilt gross area. When completed, the school will accommodate a total of 800 preschool children and primary school pupils at the Kunskapsförskolan preschool and the International English School. The school section will comprise a school cafeteria and kitchen as well as specialised rooms for home economics, woodworking and music. The preschool section will accommodate two preschools comprising eight departments with an adjoining kitchen and common room. New schoolyards will be built for the school and the preschool, respectively.

“We appreciate Hemsö’s continued confidence in Veidekke and look forward to further collaboration and to providing an excellent learning environment for our children,” says Cecilia Eneberg, department manager at Veidekke Bygg Syd.

The new school buildings will be certified in accordance with the environmental building standard Miljöbyggnad Silver, which will ensure pupils a healthy indoor climate with good ventilation and a school constructed of healthy building materials and with low energy consumption.

The contract is included in the order book for the fourth quarter.
